From the time when it was founded in 1969 until the early 1980's, the International Design Center Berlin (IDZ) has mainly been concerned with problems of environment, cityscape and residential ambience. The aim of the events and exhibitions held was to convey to the public, for purposes of sociocultural application, various subjects from the areas of science and design, whereas today it is mainly a matter of presenting design as a factor in the market and an additional profit value.
